99 Percent of what you do is worthless (According to this Author)
Plus, can you help me start a business?
Today, I have a book recommendation for you. It’s called Essentialism by Greg McKeown.
The core of Essentialism can be summarized by a German saying,
“Weniger aber besser” (Less but better)
Or by this powerful visual from chapter one:
But how do we get from the left side to the right side?
Explore and Evaluate
Eliminate
Execute
How to use these steps to start a business
Explore and evaluate
What am I interested in?
What am I good at?
What is there a market for?
Eliminate
Cut out all the trivial and unprofitable options
Execute
Only commit and go big on the worthwhile stuff.
Build systems to make success a logical solution
Build the product
Write Copy
Create sales script, etc.
Can you help me start a business?
If you know me personally, almost all of you do, could you please email me with my strengths?
I have given myself two weeks to explore and evaluate, and your feedback would help me think about what kind of business to start.

Core Mindset of an Essentialist
Individual choice
I choose to (yes)
I have to (no)
Everything you do is a choice. Even accepting the golden handcuffs is a choice.
The Prevalence of noise
Only a few things really matter (yes)
It’s all important (no)
Things that matter: Health, family, happiness, income, learning (what else?)
The reality of trade-offs
I can do anything, but not everything (yes)
I can do both (no)
e.g. If you choose to learn French, you also choose not to learn Spanish.
“I have no time”
The biggest lie you can tell yourself and others is “I have no time.” We all have the same amount of time and decide how we will use it. The last two years proved that for us all.
I’ll leave you with this quote from the book:
“The ability to choose cannot be taken away or even given away—it can only be forgotten.”
