Greetings from Hamburg, Germany — Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2023
Hey! Long time no see.
Since I started ghostwriting, I haven’t had as much time to write this blog. But, I plan to start again because I like learning and sharing ideas with you.
Your feedback helps me grow.
P.S. If you were an early paid subscriber, thank you so much for your support! I’ve paused paid subscriptions indefinitely but am grateful that you believed in me.
Be on the lookout for a special bonus in the future…
Start
On Monday, I signed a new ghostwriting client.
He’s been a profitable creator since 2015.
Here’s a piece of advice he gave me about ‘making it’ in the creator economy:
When I asked for his advice, he told me:
“Connor, if I were in your shoes, I would develop skill sets that you can later deploy into other realms.”
The idea reminded me of Scott Adam’s “talent stack.”
In short, if you stack complementary skills, you become not just a little more valuable but way more valuable because talents explode your options.
For example, if you can write well, you might become a freelance writer, but if you can write and execute high ticket sales, you can make 4 figures per client as a ghostwriter.
Uncertainty is ok
A part of this process is being comfortable with uncertainty.
When I decided to learn German, I had no idea what would happen.
It was the first major decision I made as an adult without thinking about the career consequences. But as a result of following my curiosity, I’ve gone down an incredibly interesting and fun path.
Which brings us to the second point from my new client. He told me:
Don’t worry about the path. As long as you’re learning and making experiments, the path reveals itself.
So if I could go back to my 17-year-old self, I would probably say:
Just learn a lot of cool skills.
Pick whatever you are interested in, and jump on the chance to apply them.
You learn skills. You apply skills. You reflect on that application. And then you are ready to take on more audacious tasks.
Thank you for reading.
P.S. I’m changing the name of this blog back to Woody’s World. I’ve been told it was easier to remember and I miss it!
Dankeschön!
