I sent in that job application we talked about last time.
It’s for a direct marketing company called Golden Hippo. I want to work there because their founder, Craig Clemens, is one of the greatest living copywriters, so if you apprentice at his company, you can learn from one of the best in the world.
But so far, crickets— not even a confirmation email.
Anyways, I’m undettered and will eventually become a Golden Hippo copywriter.
Because now I have a superior plan inspired by Jack Butcher from Visualize Value.
(The guy who makes these philosophy memes):
Who Needs Permission?
Permissionless is a buzzword in internet circles.
In the past, only few people had access to leverage mainly through
Labor
Capital
But for labor and capital you need permission. To get labor leverage, people need to follow you and you need to be a good leader. To get capital leverage, you need to persuade someone (like a bank) to loan it to you.
But now, we all have access to permissionless leverage through
code
content

You can also use these tools to do other things without permission like apply for a job.

Inspired by this philosophy, I am working on a project to send to Craig.
In short, I’ve listened to every podcast appearance from Craig and found out a bit about him and his philsophy.
You see, Craig was a bit of a f-ck off in his early twenties. So I will write a sales letter to 23 year old Craig selling him on Golden Hippo. Explaining to him exactly why he should apply to work there.
Also, I will do my best to use Craig’s style of copywriting, which was conviently summarized on Twitter for free:

Perhaps in two weeks I’ll have good news to share with you.
Talk soon!
I remeber listening to that podcast in Germany! You got this 💪🏼
Good luck on your project, Connor!
I'm really excited for you.
Keep the fire burning. 🔥
