July 14th, 2022: Greetings from Long Island, New York.
I’m back home on the Island. In the past, when I came home from Germany, I was already itching to leave. But this time, I’m happy to be here.
Since being home I’ve visited a friend in Brooklyn and family in South Hampton. It reminded me of all New York has to offer. But I’m also reminded that a smoothie costs $9.99— there are always tradeoffs!
Today, I’m experimenting with a new format for you.
Since I’m focusing on LinkedIn content, I’ll share with you my best post of the week— and reveal why it worked.
But first here are 2 pieces of content that you might find valuable:
Derek Branch: 10 Things Business School Doesn’t Teach

One of the things I like about having friends is learning from their paths.
You can take different paths but still get some of the benefits of learning from theirs. And one of my friends on a more interesting path is Derek. I’m hyped to see more Twitter content from him.

From my language learning days, I can confirm #4.
I never forgot the German word for “dangerous” after my host nephew yelled GEFÄHRLICH! as I skateboarded around the living room with his sister on my shoulders.
How to scientifically slow down alzheimer’s and dementia?
Exercise.
“It’s like a bubble bath for your brain.”
My Best LinkedIn Post of the Week:
Pay me per project, not per hour.💰 (True story)
Why it worked:
Parent stories always have potential— everyone can relate.
The catchy and polarizing first line
Shocking admission: “He refused to help his mom?”
Out-of-the-ordinary photo
Authority: Charlie Munger
Specific Numbers: “$200 per hour”
I am amazed you are making each piece the best quality among all. Thank you as a loyal reader. BTW, Smoothie in Pittsburgh is -$6.5
