I used to worry every day, but then I discovered a powerful truth:
To worry is to assume you can predict the future.
And not only that, a negative future. But according to Nassim Taleb, former Wall St. trader and NYT best-selling author, humans aren't very talented at predicting the future. (Thanks to human nature, black swan events, and flawed modeling)
Once I discovered that, I decided I'd stop worrying.
At first, it was hard because I was used to worrying. But over time, I got better at it. Now my new habit is to not worry.
But if you still worry, it's not your fault.
Society has brainwashed us to accept worrying as something natural. It's not. And our worries are not reality. They're a harmful filter we put over reality.
I'll end with a quote from Elon's infamous Joe Rogan episode,
āIād rather be optimistic and wrong than pessimistic and right.ā
And this cool chart from my girlfriend Ćzgür:
Lastly, we always have two choices:
Accept
Improve
Anything else is self destruction.
This is whatās been on my mind lately. I hope itās helpful to you.
P.S. Persuasion Bonus
If youāre interested in persuasion, here is a fantastic Twitter thread about one of the worldās greatest copywriters:
i think this is very true and something i have def been working on lately! I have really been trying to change my mindset on things lately whether it be social, work or just in my mind and take a step back and think about the root of why i am worrying and typically i can always trace it to something i can just take a few deep breaths and realize it is silly to waste my time and thoughts on !
I almost missed the bonus since I seldom worry. Cool picture, Ćzgür!
